Which bookmakers hold a Kenyan bookmaker (BK) licence according to the regulator's published list, how to check any betting site yourself before you deposit, and what the Gambling Control Act, 2025 makes a licensed bookmaker do for you. No rankings, no bonuses, no links to operators: the list, the law and plain steps.

Licensed bookmakersHow to check a site

Check any betting site in four steps

  1. Find the licence on the site

An online gambling licensee must display its licence on its online platform (Gambling Control Act, 2025, s.36(3)). Look in the footer or on an about page for the company name, the trading name and a licence number.

  2. Note the company and the trading name

The regulator's list records both: the company that holds the licence and the brand it trades under. A site that shows only a brand, or a company you cannot find anywhere, has not given you enough to check.

  3. Read the BK number

On the regulator's list the bookmaker licence number sits in the BK column. Copy the number exactly as the site prints it, including the leading zeros.

  4. Compare with the regulator's list

Find the trading name on the list and check that the company, the BK number and the domain all match the site in front of you. A mismatch is a reason to stop. If in doubt, call the regulator's toll-free line, 0800-723-770.

The team sheet on this site reproduces every line of the list that carries a BK number and a domain: Licensed bookmakers in Kenya. Longer answers live in the guides.

What you will not find here

Rankings
No best-of lists, scores or stars. Every bookmaker on the regulator's list appears in alphabetical order with the same facts: company, trading name, licence number, status and domain.
Bonuses
No welcome offers, promo codes or free-bet amounts. The Advertising Regulations, 2026 bar gambling adverts from carrying a call to action (L.N. 114, r.9(a)), and this site publishes no gambling advertising at all.
Operator links
No hyperlinks to any bookmaker. Promoting a gambling activity on an electronic medium needs the regulator's approval under s.87(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025; this site holds no such approval and seeks none. Domains appear as plain text, as the regulator lists them.

Who this site is for

Adults aged 18 and over in Kenya who bet, or are about to, and want to know whether a site is licensed and what the law makes a bookmaker do for them. The Conduct of Gambling Operations Regulations, 2026 treat anyone under eighteen as a minor who must be kept out of gambling (L.N. 112, r.92(1)(c)). Nothing here is legal or financial advice, and nothing here is a reason to bet.

The site is new, and its publisher's legal entity, contact channel and named reviewer have not yet been published. What it is, what it is not and why it carries no advertising is on the About page; how pages are prepared and checked is on the Editorial policy page.

Questions

Who regulates betting sites in Kenya?

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya, established by s.6(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025, which commenced on 26 August 2025. It is the legal successor of the Betting Control and Licensing Board (s.6(3)) and issues the licences the Act prescribes (s.10(c)).

How can I tell whether a betting site is licensed?

A licensed online operator must display its licence on its platform (s.36(3)). Take the company name, the trading name and the BK number from the site and compare them with the regulator's published list of licensed gaming companies. The team sheet on this site reproduces the lines that carry a BK number and a domain.

What does the BK column on the regulator's list mean?

The list has three licence-number columns, BK, PG and PL, and does not spell the abbreviations out. The Act provides three online licence types: online bookmaker, online lottery and online casino (s.67(1)). This site reads the BK column as the bookmaker licence and uses it to decide which lines appear on its sheet.

Is it legal to use a foreign betting site from Kenya?

A foreign-based operator may only hold an online gambling licence if it is registered in Kenya with a physical address here (s.79(1)), and offering online gambling in Kenya without a licence is an offence for the operator (s.79(3)). The Foreign-Based Operators Regulations, 2026 require a licensed foreign operator to geo-block Kenyan residents (L.N. 113, r.7(1)). A site that is not on the regulator's list gives you no route to the Authority or the Tribunal if something goes wrong.

How fast must a bookmaker pay out?

Monetary online winnings must be credited to the player's account within two days (s.70(1)). The Conduct Regulations add payment tiers: online prizes up to KES 500,000 are paid immediately after basic checks, and larger prizes within five, fourteen or thirty working days depending on the amount (L.N. 112, Third Schedule). A licensee that fails to pay winnings within fourteen days owes a penalty (L.N. 112, r.101(1)).
